Vengurla BeachVengurla houses a number of tourist beaches, which are indeed left to be explored at the fullest. Each one of the beaches are bordered with the thick causaurinas and as such hides them form the crowds of the town. The waves here crashes against the hillocks on which the light house stands and avoid the dark night with its glowing red beam. The beaches are made for laze lovers, who lingers on to discover the place of serenity.

The voluminous waves
This beach hides itself behind the rows of tall casuarinas swaying in the winds. It is located 3 kms from the bus-stand and can be easily accessed with a stay in the MTDC Tent Resort. The white beach of soft sand dunes sparkle with the rising sun, while at night the red beam diffused from Vengurla lighthouse offers it, a glitzy look. With holding the thick powdery shells on the beach, enthusiast can enjoy the dolphins swing on the southern end of the beach.

Vengurla's lighthouse
Located about 3 kms fron the main town, the lighthouse is near the jetty. It is perched on a hill and offers the spectacular view of the sea, below. To the north-west are the Vengurla Rocks, also called Burnt Islands, which was once an important pointer for seafarers in times long gone. Only experienced rock-climbers can venture down, after the unfavorable timings of the tides.

Vengurla Jetty
A hang out in and round the Jetty offers the experience as enjoying the classic Cary Grant movie. The jetty was once a bustling port of trading settlement set up by the Dutch. Now, the place come alive with the fisherfolk, who collects silver fishes into their baskets. The best time to visit the Jetty is in the evening hours, when the boats return with the daily catch.

Shiroda and Aravali
The twin village- Aravali and Shiroda is situated 10 kms south of Vengurla. It is the home to the sacred Mauli Devi Temple, Shri Vithoba Temple and the Sateri Devi Mandir. The stalls near the temple sells yellow bananas and pink lotus, which can be offered at the feet of the presiding deity within the temple complex.

Sagarteerth and Velagar beaches
Situated 14 kms south of Vengurla, the beaches are attached to the temple town of Shiroda and Aravali. It is lined up with the white sands, which glitters like a silvery line in the moonlight. Dolphin cruises are offered at the beach by the resorts located here.

Other attractions in and around the Vengurla town are the Vengurla's Fruit Research Center, Vayangani beach and Ganapati Temple in Redi, the southernmost beach in Maharashtra.

Vengurla beach shopping
In case of shopping, visitors can only expect to take a few packet of roasted cashews and laddoos made of cashews. Compulsive shoppers can also pick up gooseberry(amla) candy and mango poli, a layered sweet made from ripe mangoes.

Eating at Vengurla
The roadside food stalls and small restaurants in Vengurla serves an array of exotic dishes made from tender green cashewnut, potato-like roots and paapdi, a local bean. Kelphoolachi bhaji, a Konkan dish made of banana flowers is a must-have item in Bamboo Inn, situated on the road to Sagareshwar Beach. Sea food, Chinese and vegetarian dishes can be relished in Gajaalee, near the jetty. Besides, Gomantak and Sagareshwar Corner, the shack-like restaurant are the best place to dine.

Nivati Beach
Situated to the north of Vengurla, Nivati beach has a majestic lighthouseon Burnt Islands and a sea-fort built by the Maharathas. One can spend their lesiurely hours with watching fishermen head out on their boats and making their net, fly over the water.

Sawantwadi
Sawantwadi, the busy place near Vengurla(28 kms), was once a station on the way to Goa. The place is now developed with a number of hotels and is highly looked by the tourist from across the world. Visitors can have a glimpse of the royal palace built in the era of Khem Sawant Bhonsale III. A simple red stone structure covered in ivy is positioned in the shade of palms, facing Moti Talao, the storybook lake at the center of town. The huge silver throne, wrought-iron balconies and wooden furniture designed in miniature paintings are some worthy watch here.

Visitors can also have great time with praising the Palace museum, which houses the statutes of Brahma and other deities, dating to 10th and 11th centuries. The shops in Sawantwadi also displays an array of painted wood toys, which are a nice things to pick. Tourist can also take back with them, a few packets of amla petha, dahi mirchi, kokum squash, mango jam and cashewnuts.

By Air
The nearest airport to Vengurla is at Dabolim, Goa(88 kms). Daily flights operates from the aerodrome and connect the place with different corners in the world.

By Rail
The nearest railhead, Sawantwadi(28 kms) is connected to Mumbai by the Konkan Kanya Express, Shatabdi and Mandovi. The train station also links with Delhi via Mangala Express. On reaching visitors can hire the available local transport and reach the Vangurla beach

By Road
State Transport buses leave for Vengurla from the Parel Bus Stand in MumbaiThe developed NH17 connects Mumbai till Kudal. With taking right onto SH120 and then following the route to SH121, travelers can easily find Vengurla. Private deluxe coaches do not ply directly to Vangurla. They leave from Dadar to Kudal, the closest stop to the beach.
