Kunkeshwar BeachKunkeshwar is a beautiful town of beaches, forts and temples. A visit towards the splendor offers th chance to spy its slopping dunes, bordered with palm and mango groves. The sheer beauty of the place is its temple, which seems like touching the blue sky and as well the sunset hours, when the sand appears like a red, shimmering powder, smeared on the forehead of the horizon.

Kunkeshwar beach
The rippling waves on the sea grows in intensity and as well as disappears every now and then. Besides little fishing boats, the stray dogs and the trotting crabs, the beach is all made for the visitors. Upon siting atop the hillocks, nestled behind the Kunkeshwar temple, visitors can enjoy the panoramic view of the sea.

Kunkeshwar temple
Kunkeshwar is a holy shrine, which shimmers with tiers of bright color of the Sun and the Moon. The serene environment and the strong faith of the believers is all the temple depicts. During Maha Shivratri, the surrounding buzz with devotees, who believe to offer Lotus flowers, coconut and milk before the Lord. Visitors clang the temple bell now and then and fuses the aura with holy smoke.

Tara Mumbri Beach
Situated about 4 kms north of Kunkeshwar, Tara Mumbri is a beach with small village. The surreal sea is worth-watching, particularly, during the sunset when the fishermen families cluster around their little boats and manages their fresh catch.

Devgad
This small town is dotted with mango groves, which swoop down to touch the ground. The houses, nestled here is built in Mangroove tiles and courtyards and interestingly the area is under the close attention of the residing farmers. Besides the mangoe plantation, the land is also known as the abode of God. It houses the biggest Gajbadevi temple at Mithbao and Vimleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple are inscribed in great architectural style and the main focus is the Stone Elephants, positioned at the entrance of the Vimleshwar temple. Other attractions of the place are the Rameshwar Mandir, Samadhi od Sambhaji Angre, windmills and the old Devgad Fort.

The shops set in queue outside the Kunkeshwar temple offers the pack of Alphonso mangoes at a reasonable rate. Kunkeshwar visit between April and May is best for relishing the sweet mangoes.

Vijaydurg
A long drive from Devgad offers a visit to Vijaydurg. The places is highly opted for picnicking, where visitors can have good time under the shade of the banyans inside the Vijaydurg fort. Visitors can also enjoy the scenic arrangement of the colorful little boats on the bank of 1 ms stretch of Vijaydurg beach. Also, a worthy visit lies in stepping towards Goddess Bhavani temple, Sahebache Katte or an Englishman's Paltform.

The nearest airport to Kunkeshwar is at Dabolin, Goa, situated 160 kms away.

By Rail
Kankavli, situated 47 km away is the nearest railhead to Kunkeshwar. It is connected to Mumbai by the Konkan Kanya Express, Shatabdi Express and connected to Delhi by the Mangala Express. Autos and private cars are available outside the railway station and visitors can easily hire anyone to reach Kunkeshwar beach.

By Road
Roadways to Kunkeshwar are well-developed and each places in Maharashtra is connected with another via National Highways. From Mumbai, drive to the south on NH17 to Nandgaon via Chiplun and Tarele and reach Shirgaon, which is 17 kms from Kunkeshwar. Auto-rickshaws and Volvo buses are easily available on hire.
