Alibaug BeachAlibuag depicts the beachside charm in Maharashtra. The beach is made exclusive for walking into the water, away from the land and surveying the formidable force of Marathas in the late 17th and 18th century. The beach is about a kilometer from the town center and has the old Kolaba Fort. Other beaches like Versoli, Kihim, Awas, Sasavne and Mandwa are to the north of Alibaug beach and visitors can easily cover all the place in a short duration.

Beaches in and around Alibaug are safe and glitzy enough to offer a handsome holiday to the visitors. The beach activity here, is confined to quiet morning walk, sightseeing and bird watching and is not an ideal destination for water-sport lovers. Evening hours in beach defines the playful crowds of a group, family and lonely souls. The lazy hours may mean a lot about having nariyal pani, bhel puri, Kulfi and other food-staffs. Visitors can cherish their mood with a six-seated horse ride(Tonga) and move across the near by attraction, cited below-

Kolaba Fort
Located 700m south-west of Alibaug beach, Kolaba rocky fort dominates the landscape of the beach and the imagination of its visitors. The fort was constructed by Chhatrapati Shivaji in 1680's and is known for its architectural style. It measures about 900 ft long, 350 ft wide and has 25 ft high walls with 17 bastions. The fort premises has many shrines and the most important being the 18th century Ganesh Panchayatan.

Versoli and Kihim
Versoli is situated 2 km north of Alibaug beach, while Kihim is 11 kms north of Alibug. Both the place are known for green lanes and laid back village, which attracts picnickers, during peak visiting season. Visitors can also enjoy a majestic view of Kolaba, Khanderi and Underi forts from the Versoli beach. Besides, local boats are also available on hire, to reach the forts.

Akshi and Nagaon
This two popular beach is located 3 and 7 kms south of Alibaug beach, on the road to Revdanda. The road connecting the beach shimmers with the fine plantation of coconut and betel nut and visitors can receive the calm aura, added with the taste of Nimbu pani and cold drinks. Also, a keen look at the Shivaji Statue acts as an additional punch to sightseeing programme.

Alibaug Beach Shopping
Alibaug beach is the main centers of Alphonso cultivation and gets a good crop of mangoes. Visitors can buy dozen of fresh fruit and products made of mangoes from most shops near the bus-stand. Cashew is a new item in the bazaar is also worth buying. Eating at Alibaug Beach
Alibaug beach is not developed with stand-alone restaurants and as such tourist visiting Alibaug beach may not relish any great dining experience. Foodoholics can only have the pani puri, bhel puri and similar snacks in Beach chokes. Whereas, a walk towards the roadside may offer the sumptuous Chinese and South Indian dishes in the restaurants at Guruji, Meera Mahadav and Big Splash. Also, Hotel Sanman, Hotel Anirudha and Hotel Sarawat located between the town center and the beach offers the local favors of Konkani fish fry, crabs and thalis.

Mandwa Jetty
This beautiful town is situated 19 kms from Alibaug and is popular with a beautiful carving beach on both sides. Mandwa is the first port of call in the Raigad District, from Mumbai and as such visitors opt the way as a convenient route to explore the sea.

Rewas Jetty
Rewas is the terminus of the Alibaug Rewas Road, while jetty is located at the edge of the Rewas-Dharamtar creek. Ferry are serviced to Bhaucha Dhakka in Mumbai and visitors can trace the sea-shore of Uran across the sea, which lits up with holding a small local market. It is only 23 kms away from Alibaug beach.

Awas and Sasavne
A getaway to the famous Awas and Sasavne beach is very interesting. The two beaches are further 18 and 20 kms north of Alibaug beach and is highly looked for beach activities. Both the sea-shore act as a huge playground for the enthusiast beach-lovers. The banks are beautiful with a number of fishing boats and their colorful flags. Many bungalows stand along side the shore, which speaks of the elite society here.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport in Mumbai operates regular flights and connects both Indian and International Cities.

By Rail
Pen, located on the Konkan Railway is connected to Mumbai, Goa and Mangalore. It is only 28 kms away from Alibaug beach.

By Road
NH17 connects Alibaug via Poynad and Khandale. Regular State Transport buses operates to and from Mumbai Central and Borivli, thereby aiding visitors to reach the beach.
