The
long stretch of Kozhikode may not be at par with the beaches in Goa, but it
is a beach where one can find peace and serenity at a time. The beaches is

Payyoli Beach
On visiting the beautiful Payyoli beach, visitors can catch a glimpse of the Velliyamkallu, a Silvery Rock, positioned 14 km out at sea. The rock covers about 2 acre of land and is inhabitant by rare birds. Visitors, in order to reach Velliyamkallu,can make a trip of one hour via in a fiberglass boat from Payyoli beach.

The beach is in close proximity to the town, therefore visitors can easily reach the latter and purchase several souvenirs, including traditional handicraft items. Sweet shops in Mithai Theruvu are popular for selling halwas, seasoned with dry fruits and prepared with pure coconut oil, packets of banana chips etc. which makes a good buy.

Kozhikode Station is well-connected to Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram by the Cannanore, Netravati and Parashuram express trains and to Mumbai by the Netravati and Mangla Lakshadweep express trains. Besides, Mangalore Mail operates to and from Chennai on daily basis.
By Road:
NH17 connects Kozhikode to Kannur, Kasargode, Mangalore, Panaji and Mumbai. Both private and KSRTC buses ply over the major cities of Kerala and Karnataka at regular interval.
